LIDER, KTÓRY WYBIERA at the Surferzy Wiedzy Demo Day
On 17 September, LIDER, KTÓRY WYBIERA (The Leader Who Chooses) was presented at the Surferzy Wiedzy Demo Day at the PKO Rotunda in Warsaw. It is my own leadership development programme, focused on one of the most difficult areas of modern leadership: making decisions under pressure, with incomplete information and growing responsibility.
The programme grew out of more than 20 years of my work with strategy, transformation, marketing, management boards and teams. Creating it, however, was not about collecting yet more models, cases and tools. Above all, it required selection, discipline and conscious decisions about what the programme would not include.
And that is exactly why Demo Day was more than just a talk for me. It was the moment of moving from a concept to a real product. From “I want to create it” to “it already exists”.
How can leaders make better decisions?
On stage, I presented a programme built around a question that keeps coming back in my work with leaders:
How do you regain the ability to choose consciously when pressure, the number of options and responsibility are all growing?
The higher a leader is in an organisation, the less often the problem is a lack of knowledge. Much more often, the challenge becomes the quality of choices, priorities and decisions, including those a leader should consciously not make on behalf of their team.
That is why LIDER, KTÓRY WYBIERA was not created to give experienced leaders even more answers. It was created to help them:
see more, choose less and decide better.
From knowledge to real change
Preparing for Demo Day also became a practical test of the same philosophy: milestones, feedback, validation, constraints and decisions made instead of yet more rounds under the banner of “I'll just polish it a bit more”.
This experience also captures the idea behind the programme itself. Effective leadership is not about endlessly expanding the number of options. It is about the ability to see what really matters, make a choice and take responsibility for its consequences. That is why I do not treat my Demo Day talk as the finale of the project. It is rather the moment when LIDER, KTÓRY WYBIERA stopped being a project “in preparation” and started working in the real world.
I didn't pitch a vision. I pitched the outcome.
This autumn, the programme launches its first editions and reaches its first participants.
